The theme of weight is one that does not seem to escape me. You’d think that one day, when it all passes, things will get easier, and that I’d be done with everything. No more pushing, just float and enjoy.
Peace comes with its own problems, the biggest being both fear, and anxiety. The fear of wondering when everything will fall apart, for when the needle will arrive to burst your bubble.
The weight of your anxiety, the weight of your breath, the weight of your choices, all feels synonymous with the baggage we carry every day.
Lower your shoulders, unclench your jaw, undo your frown, relax your feet and exhale. Set your bags down for a minute, and sit with me here. Look at that, there is so much color around you.
Look at all that you carried, it looks pretty heavy to me. I’m proud of who you’ve become, and all that you are. You are the sum of your successes and the product of your failures.
What matters most is what you do now. How you are, now. There is no past, and the future doesn’t know you yet. I’m glad you took a moment to be with me, here. While I battle for my dreams, having you here keeps me calm. I no longer have to carry it all alone.
lyrics
Carry
Verse 1
I’m waking up
To fall asleep
Remember me
You used to be
Chorus
With all
That you carried
That you carried
All alone
Post chorus
(On my own)
Verse 2
It seems so easy
To begin again
But all our mind’s
Been given no elation
Don’t you see them sinking
The weight of all
Incisions May have
Some or no relation
Chorus
Another lie
That you carried
That you carried
All alone
(On my own)
Bridge
(That you carried
That you carried all alone)
Coloured decisions
With the pain of all
The asteroids and
Complex information
I’ve been forgiven
But I’ve lost before
I’ll lose again
It’s all o have to own
Cut through the silence
All the mighty are but nothing
Without all their
Skin and bones
I’m uninvited
For the time we spend
I’m out of change
For us there is no more
Outro verse
It seems so easy
To begin again
But all our mind’s
Been given no elation
Don’t you see them sinking
The weight of all
Incisions May have
Some or no relation
