about

Think about a story. Write it out, put it together, make the melody, bring it all together. It may sound like crap, but it’s out there. You did it. You overcame the biggest hurdle of all. You.

I am a massive procrastinator, and I lose focus quite easily. Many times I’ll sit with my notebook wide open, and hours will pass, and there wouldn’t be a word on my page. To witness the passage of time, without a word to hold it in place.

I’m doing it right now. I’ve opened 3 youtube videos as I type this, my attention is everywhere but here. Because I often don’t want to be present.
It’s a feeling I’ve come across a couple of times in the past, but never acknowledged it. Hindsight is 20/20.

Write, is the one song that opened the dam. The one song that reminded me that music was my saviour, even at my lowest point. I mean the complex that I felt, doing something that I love so much, and not being able to write a song. For 2 whole years, I had not a single new idea.

I always wondered when my mind would be set free, when the first good idea would arrive, when I’d feel normal again. The fear of feeling that my time would never come, or that I’d never be able to write a song again, was real. That I’d spent years on this journey, making my own songs only to be caught in a battle against myself.

If ever you feel stuck, or feel like you’ve plateaued, it’s important to remember that life always has a plan for you. And that with even the slightest push, the next chapter of your life could be the most special. And with this story, I welcome you to Dhruv.

lyrics

Write

Verse 1

Where do I write
The Far East and our
Endeavours

How many eyes
To see in to time
Forever

The ides underneath
Dancing away
For hours and days
For hours and days

Stop by the house
In the corner I wait
Let me lie in the sun
Let me lie in the sun

Every new story
Is already laid
Let me lie in the sun
Let me lie in the sun

Chorus

Maybe I don’t want to have another cut on my wrists
I don’t want to have a single fight with my fists
At all
Maybe colours would be heeded if they needed to miss
Starry are the hours in my bucket of lists
Oh lord

Don’t stop the rain

Verse 2

How does one ask for forgiveness
When we’re colourblind?
(Don’t stop the rain)
Stop for a minute and breathe
Me into life
(Don’t stop the rain)

Hold in my dear
Let us fall in the lake
Let me lie in the sun
Let me lie in the sun

Chorus

Maybe I don’t want to have another cut on my wrists
I don’t want to have a single fight with my fists
At all
Maybe colours would be heeded if they needed to miss
Starry are the hours in my bucket of lists
Oh lord

Bridge

Huddle, around my desire
All the distances remember me
Before I have to die

Let me lie
With all I hold dear
If only I’d remember all the
Smiles so loud and clear

Let me lie
Let me lie

Chorus

Maybe I don’t want to have another cut on my wrists
I don’t want to have a single fight with my fists
At all
Maybe colours would be heeded if they needed to miss
Starry are the hours on my bucket of lists
Oh lord

Don’t stop the rain
